While continuing to organize the basement of the farmhouse the other day, I ran across this box of cards. The name on the box – Flinch. I had never heard of it before. A quick online search revealed that it is a card game created in 1905. It is touted as a classic. There are newer versions to be had. But nothing compares to the thought of playing with cards that were played with a 100 years ago by our family.

I quickly messaged Papa J and Uncle G and asked if they had ever played the game. They both responded that they had played it a lot with their grandmother. How cool is that?!

While on a mini vacation with grandparents a few weeks ago, we played some neat card games and we also made memories. I would have to argue that today’s generation will not have stories to tell of card games and making memories. Let me get on my soapbox about eyes glued to cell phones. Never mind. No rant. You already know.

What the grandparents don’t know is that I will be taking the game to our Christmas get togethers so that they can teach us how to play – and make more memories – generation to generation.
