Homemade Cinnamon Rolls | Fresh Milled Flour
Taste the unmatched freshness and flavor from fresh milled flour, plus reap the full nutritional benefits. Yes, even cinnamon rolls can be a little healthier without losing the soft luscious taste.

INGREDIENTS
dough:
- 3 – 3½ cups fresh milled flour*
- 1 pkg active dry yeast
- 1 ¼ cups milk
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ cup Crisco
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
filling:
- 1 – 2 Tbsp butter (melted)
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1½ Tbsp cinnamon
icing:
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 – 4 Tbsp milk or water
METHOD
- In a large mixer bowl combine 1 1/3 cup of flour and the yeast.
- Heat together milk, sugar, Crisco, and salt until warm. Add to dry ingredients in mixer bowl.
- Add egg. Beat at low speed for 30 seconds. Then on high for 3 minutes.
- Stir in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough and roll out in rectangle on counter (about 1/4-1/2 inch thick).
- Using a brush, spread enough melted butter over the top to coat it. Mix together remaining filling ingredients and spread evenly over the top.
- Roll up into a log & cut (I like to use floss- it is so easy to get a clean cut without smashing the roll).
- Place in greased baking pan and let rise till double (approx. 1 hr).
- Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Watch carefully to avoid burning.
- Icing: Stir together powdered sugar and vanilla. Add milk or water until desired consistency. Drizzle over warm or cooled cinnamon rolls.
